The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) joins millions of citizens across the globe in celebrating Nigeria's 66th Independence Day anniversary, marking another historic milestone in our journey as an unbroken, sovereign nation bound in unity.
The beauty of our sovereignty lies in our continued unity despite diverse tongues, religions, and ethnic origins. As the largest Black nation in the world, our strength resides in our ability to draw power from our diversity, maintaining an unyielding spirit of resilience and shared identity.
On this historic day, NANS also pays patriotic tribute to our heroes past whose sacrifices secured the freedom and democratic heritage we enjoy today.
As the apex representative body of Nigerian students—the primary custodians of the nation's future—NANS emphasizes the vital role youth play in shaping the socio-economic and political landscape of the country.
- Patriotic Responsibility: Nigerian students remain the core stakeholders tasked with advancing national cohesion, intellectual growth, and progressive governance.
- Overcoming Sentiments: Students across all campuses are urged to reject tribalism, religious bigotry, and sectarian divides that impede national development.
NANS reaffirms its unwavering commitment to a united, prosperous, and indivisible Nigeria. Whatever challenges confront our collective path, the survival and elevation of the Nigerian state must supersede every sectional interest.
"Above every divide is a Nigeria that must survive. Let us continue to celebrate our shared heritage, keep the flag flying high, and remain resolutely committed to one Nigeria."
Happy 66th Independence Day to all Great Nigerian Students!
