The attention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has been drawn to a publication currently in circulation, wrongfully attributed to NANS, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zach Adedeji, from office over an alleged $279 million transfer from the Frontier Exploration Fund.

For the avoidance of doubt, this publication did not originate from NANS and does not in any way represent the official stance of the organization. NANS is an intellectual body that operates on verified facts, not rumors or ungrounded allegations.

While NANS maintains an active oversight role over government agencies and policies affecting the Nigerian public, our evaluation of the Nigeria Revenue Service under Dr. Zach Adedeji remains overwhelmingly positive:

  1. Professional Track Record: Dr. Zach Adedeji is a seasoned accountant and exemplary public servant who has redefined the country’s revenue administration.
  2. Historic Revenue Milestones: Under his leadership, the NRS achieved historic revenue collections, exceeding targets with over ₦21.7 trillion in 2024 and scaling to ₦28.7 trillion by the end of 2025.

As an organization committed to national economic growth, NANS has no basis or reason to demand his removal.

NANS calls on the general public to completely disregard and dismiss the false news calling for the removal of Dr. Zach Adedeji.

Furthermore, we urge news organizations and media outlets to adhere strictly to professional journalism ethics by conducting thorough fact-checking before attributing unverified press releases to the leadership of NANS.

Dist. Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, GCNS

President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)
