The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) receives with immense relief and gratitude the news of the successful rescue of the abducted students in Zamfara State.

We commend the gallantry, professionalism, and commitment of the security agencies and all stakeholders whose coordinated efforts made this rescue possible. The safe return of these students is a victory for every Nigerian who believes that our schools must remain safe spaces for learning and development.

While we celebrate this development, we also extend our heartfelt sympathy to the rescued students and their families, who have endured unimaginable fear, pain, and uncertainty.

We urge the relevant authorities to provide the victims with adequate medical attention, psychological support, and every form of rehabilitation needed to help them recover from this traumatic experience.

This rescue, however, must not signal the end of our concern. We call on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure all educational institutions across the country. The recurring attacks on schools threaten not only the future of our students but also the nation’s entire educational system.

NANS remains committed to advocating for the safety, welfare, and security of every Nigerian student. We will continue to engage relevant authorities to ensure that no student is denied education because of insecurity.

We congratulate the rescued students on their safe return and pray that such incidents become a thing of the past.

Aluta Continua, Victoria Acerta!

Signed:

Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez

National President
